Military & Veterans Affairs
As President Trump rightly acknowledged, the escalating cost of our military necessitates a strategic reassessment, balancing national security with economic realities, particularly in districts like Colorado's Fifth, which heavily rely on military installations. This requires in-depth consultations with military and State Department leaders, dialogue with regional stakeholders and veterans' groups, and close coordination with the President.
Simultaneously, we must maintain Colorado Springs as a key military hub, supporting evolving missions and innovation. Our service members and veterans deserve top-tier equipment, training, and care, both during and after their service. To achieve this, we need a well-funded and efficient Department of Veterans Affairs, accomplished through increased funding, staffing improvements, streamlined processes, and technological advancement.
While I did not volunteer, I filled out my selective service card when I was 18 and would have been proud to serve. Knowing and respecting many people who put their lives on hold to defend our nation, I am committed to ensuring veterans receive the care they deserve. Ultimately, we must balance national security, economic stability, and the well-being of our service members and veterans.
