Housing Costs

Housing affordability is a complex, primarily local issue, but federal support is crucial. Inflation and high interest rates have exacerbated the problem, with Colorado's housing costs far outpacing wage growth. For example, in Colorado Springs, median home prices have risen roughly 40% in five years.

To address this, I propose:

 * Increased federal funding for programs like Section 8 to support affordable housing.

 * Policies to stabilize the economy and lower interest rates.

 * Collaboration with state and local governments to streamline regulations and promote sustainable development.

 * Incentives for diverse housing development to address supply shortages.

 * Addressing infrastructure and water needs in growing areas like Colorado Springs.

 * Data driven policy implementation.

By acknowledging the complexity, supporting local efforts, and providing targeted federal aid, we can improve housing affordability.
